Interested in Volunteering at Hannah & Friends?
Hannah and Friends has several volunteer opportunities for adults, college, high school and junior high students. We host numerous programs and activities for individuals with special needs, and we welcome volunteers to help make these programs even better! Music classes, dance parties, karaoke and more! We also have some opportunities to help out in the barn, around the grounds, and with our gardens.
If you are interested in volunteering at the Hannah and Friends Neighborhood please complete our Volunteer Application Form and either scan or mail it to Kayle Sexton. We will then be in touch with you regarding volunteer opportunities. Please, note that we may set up an interview to determine volunteer eligibility and/or determine the best fit for volunteering.
Please note that if you are interested in volunteering in the barn, grounds or gardens, volunteer times are generally available from 9a-4p Monday-Friday only. Weekend opportunities are limited. Please contact Kayle for more information.
Questions? All questions about volunteer opportunities and policies can be directed to Kayle (firstname.lastname@example.org or 574-217-7860 x1).
How to Volunteer at Hannah & Friends
Please complete our Volunteer Application Form.
How to set-up a volunteer time:
If you are interested in specific programs, please look at our Program Descriptions to find activities that may interest you.
Contact Kayle (email@example.com or 574-217-7860 x1) at least 3 days prior to the activity to see if there are volunteer spots available.
Please keep in mind that there are a limited number of volunteer spots in each program. It is essential that you check in with Kayle in advance of a program to find out if there are volunteer opportunities available. Some programs are small and therefore only have a couple volunteer spots available – and these often fill up quickly.
When you arrive at Hannah & Friends:
On your first visit you must sign a Volunteer Waiver and complete a Volunteer Info Sheet. For volunteers under the age of 18, a parent or guardian must sign the volunteer waiver. You can complete one at home and bring it with you, or a parent can sign it on your first visit. (Adult Waiver, Minor Waiver)
– Sign in the volunteer binder.
– Wear a “Volunteer” name tag.
– Ask Lily or Jetta how you can help
– Join in the activity and help our participants with different abilities get the most out of the activity!
We ask that volunteers notify us as soon as possible, if they are not able to attend a program or event. Volunteers who repeatedly do not show up during their scheduled time without notification may lose future volunteer privileges.
Additional Notes About Volunteering at Hannah & Friends
There are size limits to some activities, therefore volunteers are required to contact Maureen at least 3 days prior to an activity to verify that there are volunteer spots available. All volunteers must be signed up in advance for a program. You cannot just show up for a program, or bring a friend who is not signed up.
We ask that volunteers please be respectful of our participants. Volunteers are present to help participants make the most of programs. Therefore, we kindly ask that volunteers interact with the participants rather than socializing with other volunteers and using cell phones, texting, etc.
Please dress according to what is appropriate and comfortable for the volunteer activity. No short shorts, low-cut shirts, sagging pants, etc. Please ask Maureen if you have any questions regarding what is appropriate dress.
For safety, please note that some volunteer opportunities have age restrictions.
Not all programs meet every week, so please be sure to double check the calendar to see when the activity is scheduled.
