Hannah and Friends Thanks Supporters
The fourth annual Hannah & Friends motorcycle run took place July 18 at Effin's Last Resort in Smithfield. The scenic run left and returned back to Effin's for a complimentary cookout and outdoor live musical entertainment with Mike Coletta & Friends, Acoustic Edge, the Hitmen, and Our DJ Nate Adams.
There was an organized volleyball tournament "Volley for Awareness & Compassion." Effin's awarded the winning team with a $100 gift certificate.
Many families and children who were recipients of the Hannah's Helping Hands grants showed up to support the cause and enjoy the day. These grants are issued to R.I. low- to moderate-income households for children with special needs. They are quality of life enrichment grants and may be used for whatever the family feels that child needs. The success of the day made it possible with the help of Maura & Charlie Weis to issue out close to $20,000 worth of grants to families in our state.
None of this would be possible without the help of so many. Our committee would like to thank the following: Bill & Julie at Effin's and their staff for providing the perfect setting for our event. Circle of Friends, Bryan Feather, Rene Bisson, Jack Cruise, and Dave Russo who mapped out and lead the riders. All the road guards who helped out that day, the Smithfield Police Department who made sure the riders got off to a safe ride, Stephanie Kociuba for coordinating the volleyball tournament. The 170 people who rode that day and the 48 players who volleyed for the cause; Supporters who came and contributed, our wonderful musicians, and of course the children who made the day complete and reminded us why we were all there in the first place.
Also, Time Out Bar & Grille for being there for us the first three years and allowing us to grow. Roger Jalette from Jalette Contractors for his t-shirt donation and all his help; Chapel Four Corners for sponsoring our car wash. A thank you to Nancy O'Halloran at The Valley Breeze for helping us get word of our event out to so many people, thanks to Heather Hall, Jimmy Moulson, Marie, Phylis and Ashley Hutchins, Ally Wolfe and Doreen who helped.
We would like to thank our Silent auction donors: Terry & Donna Marshall for the condo week in New Hampshire, Diamond Hill Vineyards, Providence Bruins, Massage Associates, North Providence Pool & Fitness, Above & Beyond Tree services, Chapel Four Corners Honey Dew and Charlie & Maura Weis for Notre Dame & Bon Jovi items. We also would like to thank Michael's Meats and Dave's Marketplace for supporting us every year with food donations. Thanks go to our company donations; Wal-Mart, Balise Auto, Ocean State Harley Davidson Dealership, Navigant Credit Union, P.R.I.M.A., and Community School Cares fund.
